Hey guise...
I hadn't have thought about cadetship at all but now after reading this forum, i realised that it has so many benefits. So I was wondering if I want to apply for my first year in uni next year, is there still time to apply for it and if so, which website do I apply on?

Thanks x

Lol......

In seriousness you'll want to apply next year around the same time as applications opened this year which was May-July. Check each companies website, and you can apply from there and see the dates of when applications open. In addition SEEK is a good tool to also find some cadetship with smaller firms.

I looked up Seek and jobseeker and found a lot of cadet jobs with small firms. Is it worthwhile to become a cadet in a small firm?

Depends. If its dodge, massive tradeoff in losing the university experience, all the while of doing crap work.

There's really not that many dodge places around offering cadetship. Usually sooner or later they start introducing you to do some actual accounting work even if you might be doing administrative work for the first month or 3 months or whatever.(they get a better return out of you if you do actual accounting work for them)

It's fine. You won't know if you don't like the place by just looking at the recruitment page. Just go for it!!
You're such a nice person! :3 I just found that Deloitte's cadetship program will start next years July. I think id better apply for the more well known company~

Haha why thank you!! Yep out of the big four, deloitte, PwC and EY take first years, KPMG likes to stick with high school leavers or year 12ers more specifically. Of course apply for the big 4, but to maximise your chances apply for some of the mid-tiers as well, best chance of getting a cadetship then (Y)

I did plenty of research before starting a cadetship myself :), in addition once you're in the industry you tend to know from speaking to others.

IMO get the top 100 accounting firms list (it's published in BRW every year and I'm sure I saw it up on BoS a few years ago) and then visit their websites, look up careers pages, and then see if they have a cadetship/traineeship/etc program.

When applications are opening, the institute website typically has information and even hosts an evening where you can meet the firms. If you are applying for any of the firms there, they would at least be following the institute's rules.

Forgot to post this, gives an overview of alot of the firms offering cadetships (that signed up on the CA employment guide), really good guide that i used when applying.

http://www.charteredaccountants.com.au/Students/Finding-a-job/Employment-Guide

You can download the pdf or they also now have an App for it.

Note it it also lists ones that do graduate/vactioner position, you just have to see if they also do traineeships/cadetships/undergraduate postions
