I unfortunately use an external monitor. So the brightness on the macbook is 0. But theres more excessive workload on the graphics for the external monitor. But this workload is static and cannot be altered to change consumption/energy

well to save battery: turn off bluetooth, wireless (if not using), turnoff backlit keyboard, use a solid color desktop background, close all documents/app/programmes not used.

to save from overheating: ventilate your room, lift up your device off the ground onto a stand and put a fan near it.

Dark Mode is now enabled.

Just go to apple menu > System Preferences > General

There is now 2 options for "Theme": Light and Dark. Light is the default which everyone is used to already. But the Dark one is new.

It looks like this:
