I was wondering what would be the chances of getting into Mechanical engineering in UTS with an Atar of 70(including bonus points) when the atar cut off is 85.

Hey, unfortunately i dont think it's possible to end up with an ATAR of 70 including UTS Engineering bonus points. UTS has a minimum ATAR of 69 before awarding bonus points.

You should definitely put it down as a preference and do the questionaire but it doesn't sound very likely.

80 inclusive of bonus points, or 80 before bonus points? Latter is almost certain, former likely.

Well apply EAS and do the questionnaire... but also try to get B6 in most of the subject..and I think you can get it.. or put UWS Eng and transfer after one year..

Okay well i ended up getting 74 ATAR, surprisingly. If I add the EAS(10 extra) would this be suffice? Yes i'm one mark off getting into it.

If you did the questionnaire, there's a good chance (seeing how you're only 1 ATAR off after EAS is added).

Did you get a band 5 or band 6 in relevant subjects too?

10 from EAS and you may be eligible for subject bonus points.

Sadly I thought i was going to get a bad ATAR so I didn't complete that questionnaire. I got 91 for general maths and band 4 for physics.

You really should have (''just in case'').

General maths doesn't provide any BPs for UTS Engineering if I'm not mistaken.

Physics provides 2 BPs for UTS Engineering if you got a band 5 or band 6.

Well, all you can do now is hope for the best.

Formally, you're just missing out by 0.05 (2 for your subject BPs, 10 for EAS would put you at 84.95). However, since you've done the questionnaire, hopefully you do make it.

Also guys, the ATAR cut-off might change for 2015 admissions so who knows.

No I haven't done the questionnaire lol. I'm assuming It's too late to do it now.

Yeah, deadline was 5th of December.

Anyways, there's a possibility in your situation but if the cut-off remains the same - it might be bad news.

Maybe someone else can shed light on this.

I received an ATAR of >90 and I did the questionnaire anyway. It really is a just in case thing and I received an early offer, just for doing it :)
