This was the third part of proving in mathematical induction, I didn't want to upload the whole chunk of the question, this was the part where I got stuck.

And mathematical induction is about proving.

I thought it was obvious/troll but expand both sides. They're not equivalent
Ok thanks and no it wasn't a troll I was actually being serious, but thanks for telling me, sometimes the second last part of mathematical induction really makes me think.

Like you said 3rd part of induction
LHS=(4k-6)(4k-2)
Factorising out 2 from each bracket gives
LHS = 4(2k-3)(2k-1)
Clearly that can't equal the RHS, by comparing coefficients of k^2 (on LHS is 16, RHS it is 2), and constants (LHS it is 12, RHS it is -2),
unless k is a certain value.
