What does Further Trigonometry 2 include? I looked at the syllabus and I couldn't find a topic with that exact name.

Do you need to know these results?:



Also, I've just recently learned about L'Hopitals rule for use in trig limits. Are there any other similar rules which are useful?

You don't need to necessarily memorise those identities, but you should be able to derive them if they were to be asked in an exam. L'Hopital's rule is not in the syllabus and you won't need to use it since all limit questions will require you to utilise the methods you learn in 2U/3U.

Most Q's for trig. limits just require manipulation of the fraction to get it into a form where you can utilise the fundamental limits . Although, L'Hôpital's rule is a good last-resort method usually, but it may require careful statement to get the marks in the HSC these days.

It sounds like your school has split up extension trigonometry into two parts.
As that is not done in the syllabus, you will have to ask your teacher.

And as InteGrand suggested, DON'T use L'Hopital's rule unless you are prepared to explain where the rule itself comes from and when it can be used. It is not in the course, and examiners have made it clear that anything beyond the Ext 2 syllabus needs the same treatment. Who has taught this to you .... your teacher or your tutor?

My teacher taught us L'Hopital's rule. He said we could use it as long we mentioned that the original limit evaluted to or . Is that statement insufficient for a HSC exam?

It should be sufficient, but L'Hôpital's Rule should just be used as a last resort in the HSC.

I wouldn't be risking it. HSC examiners don't like you using work from beyond the course, and they are likely to find any reason to knock you back.
Until you can find an HSC head marker who says that is OK, steer clear of using it.
