I have been wondering this question for a while now. If I use integration by parts in a 2 unit exam would I penalised?

I think you gotta prove it before you use it...

(And a lot of people seem to spell it 'intergrate', but it is actually 'integrate'.)

But they might give you one of those find the area of the shaded region where you have to find x in terms of y then use a line (x=3) to minus the area or something like that. So if you integrate by part then it solves the problem using 10 precent of the effort.
