Hi guys. I recently enrolled in a bachelor of science degree at UTS, i thought i could try and force myself to enjoy it due to parental pressure, however it didn't happen. Now i wan't to change to something IT related, however i have concerns about the job prospects in Australia.

I have gotten a load of mixed opinions about the IT field, many people saying jobs are outsourced to india and unemployment is common. However i have some slight interests in IT, much more so that Biology which i can't stand anymore. So i was hoping for some opinions on here, on what i should do and what specialised field in IT i should take.

are u interested in coding? If so, look into software related degree's, you can learn to code using several languages, most likely c and c++. With this skill, you will be employable and be able to develop your own software.

No worries, there will always be demand for IT jobs (although it has slowed significantly). Just make sure you know ur stuff and beat those internationals at their own game lol

If you are good at what you do you won't be left without a job.
IT out of all other fields has the most jobs actually.

I wouldn't worry about it! Study what you love :D

Hop onto Seek and have a look at the jobs available. Things like nursing which you would expect to have good job prospects, actually don't. They post 2-5 jobs in a week. IT on the other hand are likely to post 2-5 jobs in the space of a few hours.

Have a look at the jobs and what intrigues you and specialize in that area.

Don't be hard on yourself for changing your mind. Some people double and probably triple your age are still chopping and changing. :)
