Hey guys,
I just got back my marks for half yearlies and have done the worst i've ever done in an exam. All of my subjects are worth about 20% and a couple 30% of my final mark. My school is ranked in the top 60s in NSW. Do you think i have a chance for achieving an atar in the 80s or late 70s. I understand that i just need to work hard and not waste my time on here but i'm scared these marks will affect my final atar.

My subjects, percentages and ranks just for these assessments are:

Advanced English- 53% - 55/59
Studies of Religion I 70% - ?
Business Studies- 44% - ?
Visual Art- 74% - 10/14
Geography- 63% - 4/5
General Maths- 62% - 25/42

Thanks x

Honestly, you marks are pree bad and they have a pree big weighting
That being said, right now you've done roughly 50% of your internals
so considering that externals and the other half of internals is still to come
you've only done 25%

that doesn't mean it won't hold you back, but if you work hard high 70s-80s is still very achievable at this point imo

Yeah of course. School marks are only 1/2 of what your HSC is made up of, the other 1/2 comes from your external results.

How's your renewal energy going?

@OP, smash externals, and continue to do TRY YOUR BEST!

Great thanks, though I really need to find a way to recharge myself from Uni. Maybe I should attach a solar panel to myself in the future

Yeah definetely, seeing as your school is top 60 I'm guessing the ranks are quite competitive. I think if you are at the middle of your cohort for each subject you should meet your required ATAR but to be safe, put all your effort in this year and get the best marks in rest of assessments and HSC.
