Re: USYD Chatter Thread - Semester 1 2016

Cheers Trebla.

I'm looking at doing an Arts degree after next year, just weighing up a few options as to whether I'd prefer to transfer to a BSc/BA, or graduate from the BSc and apply separately for the BA. I'm leaning more towards the latter, provided I can claim 2 years FTE worth of credit for prior study.

Re: USYD Chatter Thread - Semester 1 2016

I love organised faculties. Currently I'm meant to hand in an assignment tomorrow via Turnitin, but that hasn't been set up on the LMS, and instructions say to definitely not hand it in to the lecturer. So, I'll just...hang onto it, then? Also if anyone has a link to a science faculty assignment cover sheet, I'd be grateful. Because I can't find one. /whinge

Edit: Nvm, found cover sheet, didn't look in the right place. Rest of the whinge still stands, though.

Update: Everybody has a 7 day extension so the lecturer can figure out how to use Turnitin/BB. Hahahaaaaa.

Re: USYD Chatter Thread - Semester 1 2016

I have a question for anyone who may know the answer:

Would I survive in ECON1002 if I have absolutely 0 background knowledge in economics?

(I'm thinking of taking it next sem)

Isn't ECON1001 a pre-req for that?

drugz

for real tho: MATH1907 (provided daners lets me in), MATH1905, PHYS1902, MUSC1504 and (perhaps) ECON1002

Isn't ECON1001 a pre-req for that?
I'm pretty sure it's not. It wouldn't really make sense if it was, given that econ1002 also runs in sem 1

A friend of mine who took ECON1001 with me this semester took ECON1002 last year, so all is swell. Let us study post-GFC inflationary pressures in the Australian economy together.

I plan on getting into the lecture sessions on Thursdays 12pm-2pm, so unfortunately I won't be able to make it to SUMS next semester ):

Anyway, what made you consider ECON1002?

Same, if I choose this timeslot then I only need to go to uni 3 days per week next sem yas

Realised the other day that all my sem 1 units are science units, meaning that I'm allowed to do 2 non science electives next semester. I think I'd prefer the 3 contact hrs per week for econ compared to the 7 for chem (which I would have done otherwise), especially seeing as I don't see myself going into any sort of career requiring chem.

Yay we can cry together every week on Thursday from missing out on SUMS. But yeah, it'll be sweet if you do end up in that timeslot, particularly since I know no-one doing Introductory Macroeconomics.

Re: USYD Chatter Thread - Semester 1 2016

How's ECON1002? I'm thinking of doing it next sem as a wam booster, and also because buss1040 was sorta interesting to me. Just want to make sure it's actually a subject that I can get a high mark in.
i wouldnt do it unless you like timed essays. also it varies dramatically sem to sem - our sem the average for the midsem essay was under 50%. but other sems ive heard its been quite doable. we had mark melatos

Re: USYD Chatter Thread - Semester 1 2016

How's everyone's timetable for next semester looking?

Somehow I managed to get mine down to 3 days (especially surprising considering that I'm doing a science degree)

M: 11–4 Tu: 11–5 W: 10–6 Th: 11–6 F: free. Only one overlapping lecture, which is impressive for science/nursing. Too many back-to-back classes between Camperdown/Mallett again, though.

Mon 10-12, Tue 10-1, Wed 3-5, Thu 10-2, Fri 10-3.

Got a lecture or two on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons but I've got work, so I won't be going to those.

They're trying to, yeah.

Seems like a sensible move in my opinion.

Re: USYD Chatter Thread - Semester 1 2016

looks like a merger, just like the business school did 15-20 years back with AGSM
