Not really, don't see the point of learning Japanese unless I possibly wanted to find a Japanese girlfriend.

Fair enough

Do not do jap it's too hard

Some people learn it for leisure

TBH Languages are hard in general (unless you've been a native speaker from a young age)

I learnt Italian from Years 3-10 , looking back on it now, I didn't treat it seriously but can see the immense benefit too especially for work purposes.

These days alot of jobs require you to be bi-lingual or multi literate in different languages. I find with the European languages there too is an overlap in some words which can make the learning process alot easier. (e.g there is some common link between Spanish French German Italian)

Who knows I might come back one day and brush up on my Italian skills.

Also my school only offered 2 choices when I reached high school: Indonesian and Italian. But my mum wanted me to do Italian or kind of forced me to do it.
