Hey everyone! So I've been doing the ACER UMAT papers (the ones that you can buy when you apply) and for Practice Test 2 I got
36/48 for Section 1
37/44 for Section 2
25/42 for Section 3
So that's 98/134 overall.
What percentile would that give me if I was getting those marks in the actual UMAT exam?
Thank you!!

For UWS, the min. requirements to get into an interview is S1 + S2 > 128

What does this mean, isn't UMAT out of 134? Thanks. And what would be the raw scores for S1 and S2 to get this?

ACER says each section score is expressed on a scale of 0 to 100. Total possible for 134 questions is ~300.
However the score/questions relationship is not linear. For WSU last year S1+S2 >128 to get an interview but cannot pinpoint to how many questions needed. If okay with using 2 marks per question as a guide you need ~64 S1+S2 questions correct.

Doesn't UWS take your whole score for UMAT overall?

In the past WSU counted S1+S2 + 0.5*S3, then from 2015 a WSU admissions officer indicated S3 had dropped even more, possibly 0.2 or lower. With 0.2 you need 5 S3 marks to make up for 1 S1/S2 mark and students in that range seldom differ that much. So in a practical sense S1+S2 with S3 like a tie-breaker.

It's all estimation of course, can't be very precise.

Well that sucks since section 3 is the one you can study for the most...

May be the very reason WSU doesn't want to count S3 much, it's supposed to be an aptitude test you don't study for.

Is it accurate to say that 95%+ UMAT and ~97 ATAR would make it to interviews for UNSW?

It's riskier for me to apply for medicine, since I need to use up all 5 of my preferences. I'm estimating around ~97 and my practice UMAT scores are quite good but I'm not 100% too sure if I want to do medicine. I've always wanted to do Psychiatry or Finance/Law but I'm not able to combine both unless USYD which is 99.95

From past estimates 98 ATAR would need 95%ile, 97 ATAR about 98%ile. And that's borderline so you make into the interview round with less than 50/50 chance, more like 20-30% chance scoring a sufficient interview score for a place.

Doesn't UAC give you up to 9 preferences?

They changed it to 5 starting from this year. This is because statistically, the majority of placements are within the first 3 preferences, so they reduced the number from 9 to 5.

On a previous UMAT thread didn't you say you are just doing UMAT for fun?

Yep, because I wasn't too sure if I was 100% committed, same as now. But I'll be 100% sure by the 30th of September.

Any estimations for ACER practice tests?

1. 104/134
2. 108/134

Thanks

They seem easier than the MedEntry ones
I'm not sure what percentile you'd get but I heard ACER is a bit easier than the real UMAT.
