HI EVERYONE!

Advanced English is okay. Just do practice essays for each module, hand them in and get feedback. Also, keep up with homework if you believe the teacher will check it, otherwise don't bother. :p You need to spend more time on gaining an advantage over the other kids, and you can't do that by doing stuff that everyone will be doing (I hope that logic is clear to you). If you get readings for any module from school, READ THEM, regardless of whether or not it's compulsory. Note any important quotes from the readings (keep a track of the source and the author as well, because you will need to quote these if you do end up using any of the quotes in your essays) in an exercise book dedicated to English notes. Even if you don't get readings from school, find some by googling "[your text] critical readings". You use critics' quotes to back up what you're saying (much like your textual quotes) or to add some spice/extra interpretations to your essays. :D

Advanced Maths is easy for me - probably because I do Extension, though - but even if you don't find it easy, just try and understand what the teacher's teaching in class rather than not listening and struggling later. Ask any questions that pop up while he's teaching on the spot- don't be shy. :) Don't worry about not keeping up with your homework UNLESS the teacher says they're going to check it. Do past papers in exam conditions. Do worksheets (and textbook exercises) if you're struggling with a topic. Get an extra reference book with questions for the prelim course.

Bio has so much memorising, and the downside is that (at our school, at least) you need the precise wording of whatever you learn in your exam answers. Even if you're like one keyword off, you lose marks. What I'm doing is just writing out the "ideal answers" (find them from a reference book like Dot Point Prelim Bio) to each dot point over and over again to memorise them. XD

Also, for all your subjects, keep track of questions you have and ask us, your teacher or a smarter fellow pupil ASAP. Don't save questions till like the day before an exam, because you don't want to be stressing out if no one seems to know the answer to all of them then, and you don't want to accidentally miss a question if you end up with a lot. You ideally want to be chilling the day before an exam. B)

well i do advanced english and advanced mathematics. if you have a strong mathematic ability (e.g. one of the top 5.3 classes)
then go for it but if you were borderline 5.2 i would do general (which is what i'm going to do in year 12), and if you're decent at english, advanced is definitely the way to go.
