Hi there,

Does anyone have an idea of the necessary raw marks that would be required for a 99.95 in the following subjects?

- MX2
- MX1
- English Advanced
- EX1
- EX2
- Physics
- Economics

My trial marks are as follows - how much improvement would be necessary (my school is ranked ~100-120)

- MX2 (90%)
- MX1 (94%)
- English Advanced (94.29%)
- EX1 (92%)
- EX2 (90% in my draft assessment)
- Physics (94%)
- Economics (90%)

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

If ur ranks are high; you have a decent chance of getting 99+ but if they're like 4-5/50 then probably not going to happen

99.95 requires 478 aggregate = average of 95.6 after scaling by UAC.

See this table under column P99, at the top end these subjects get scaled around -0.5 so HSC average 96+
http://www.uac.edu.au/documents/atar/2015-tables/A3.pdf

If your trial/internal marks stay around low 90s after moderation, you will need to score 99-100 in the exams. Or hope your cohort will help get your internal marks moderated up to 96+ and you score 96+ in the exams yourself.

Raw marks really depend on how hard the exam was, so I think a better indicator would be to used the aligned raw marks/final HSC marks.

For final HSC marks, around a 95 average in Phys/Chem/Eco/English/4U and a 98+ 3U should be fine. With the 95 average you can definitely can do better in some to 'make up' for others eg. 96 Chem with 94 Phys-however that being said the lowest English I've seen with 99.95 last year was a 94 so it's best to aim for 95+ english.

Would it actually be better to do better in low-scaling subjects (eg Physics compared to Chemistry)?

So 96 in PHYS, 94 in CHEM
