Hey, just wondering for the HSC course do we need to distinguish between alpha-glucose and b-glucose for starch and cellulose respectively?
Is it a necessity for our answers, or is it just an added bonus of detail??

Also, for this dotpoint - 9.2.1.6 - Outline the steps in the production of polyethylene as an example of a commercially and industrially important polymer
Are we meant to write about the Free Radical process for LDPE and the Ziegler Natta process for HDPE, or just the process of Initiation, Propagation and Termination?

First question yes more detial the better. 2nd one u can do either but I recommend the ldpe one since it’s more easier to learn and write about. So in questions only write about one method and not both (unless it specifically asks for both)

Although it's unlikely to be asked to distinguish between them you should still know it, just in case if there's like a 1 or 2 marker on it. And the LDPE and HDPE production processes are quite different so if it's a question asking you specifically on how LDPE or HDPE is produced, then you will need to give the specific details involving the organic peroxide initiator or Ziegler Natta catalyst etc.

for the first question, yes. You can be asked on cellulose so you need to know that it is beta-glucose. (Starch less important but worth knowing anyways)
