I do Matrix Chemistry and personally I find it extremely beneficial and helpful, I went from having an 80% average chem mark to 95%. I know that some people don't enjoy it as much but I personally find it great.

Tutoring costs a lot of money. If you can cut down on a few subjects, you'll save your parents heaps. Also, if you were to do tutoring in, say, even just 3 subjects, then where are you going to find time to do your own studies. Even with tutoring, you still need time to digest what you are learning at school and at your tutoring place. Of course you'll probably do quite a bit of actual work at your tutoring place.

Borrow some of the text books for Yr 11, and try studying them yourself. If you can understand even 40% initially, that's a good start. After several additional readings, maybe you'll understand another 25%. By the time you are in Yr 11, you will perhaps understand another 20%. You can then decide whether or not you need tutoring.

If upon reading once, you get only 10%, try reading a few more times. If you make no further headway, then that's when you may really need outside help.

Also: if you learn to self-learn, you are developing a skill that would serve you well in the future, not only at school, but at uni and beyond.

Math and Chem have good tutoring places at matrix.

Not sure about Eco or Bio depends on your school; bio doesn't really need tutoring imo.

Adv I didn't bother with tutoring; still mad that I was first for every written assessment (2,3 & trials) but fucked up the oral prez so bad (but to be fair I've always sucked at oral prez but this was a ted talk/no notes allowed, did a viva voce in y11 and did well but this time I fukd up) that my final rank was 4th, english is bs, complete bs, subjective trash and my external will be dragged cause of the school and person ranked first didn't finish paper 1 nor 2. It's infuriating that teachers goof up ranks consistently (like other subjects too i.e. first person isn't going to get the highest external). /rant
Ikr especially if you're in a school ranked badly then you're screwed.

It would be better if everything was a standardized exam rather than a million different assessments within the school year. It eliminates the problem of the person who ranks first but doesn't rank first externally dragging everyone else down, it decreases bias and it's just more fair as in some schools assessments might be harder than another school's.

Do you think that tutoring for english is necessary? Cause the one I attend is okay, not that helpful and I have heard the same about english about other tutoring places too.

If you totally hate English like me and never studied for it up until year 12 then it probably would be necessary. Because I hated it so much tutoring kind of pushed me to work on it harder I guess. Keep in mind though I was years behind, I literally didn't even know what a metaphor was until I started studying it in year 12

I did private. I think private is probably better than a class just because you need someone to focus on just your essay and give you extensive feedback. If there's a whole class then it's literally like your school. What's the point?

Yeah classes literally felt exactly like school minus the noise.

Math and Chem is different. You go to tutoring for those NOT because you want feedback but because you need someone to explain the concepts better and give you better practice of the questions and/or accelerate you which is fine done in a class. English you need someone to JUST focus on you. So for Math and Chem a class is fine, I personally went to Matrix for 4u math initially.

My experience at Matrix was great! Although some people have had average experiences, personally I never really had a bad tutor at all. I had maybe like 1 average one but that's about it.
