What, specifically, constitutes a 'diagnostic test' in module 8? Is it just precipitation reactions and flame tests or does AAS count as diagnostic, even though it's quantitative?

What, specifically, constitutes a 'diagnostic test' in module 8? Is it just precipitation reactions and flame tests or does AAS count as diagnostic, even though it's quantitative?

The problem with AAS is you need to suspect that is the chemical present, as the technique requires the use of a lamp that contains the element to be analysed. You also need to make up like a few standard solutions for the calibration curve and then run their analysis, so it’s not really a practical test for just identifying what’s there
