I heard from a family friend that you apparently get a predicted ATAR after every assessment window. Is this true?

I think they are referring to the assessment marks you receive.

Just his school (and small amount of others)

Usually you get it after mid years and trials

Depends on your school, pretty sure private schools do but a lot of selectives dont eg mine

Yeah it's something only some schools do based on your marks/ranks and the school's previous performance in your subjects. Generally higher ranked schools will do it because their performance is more consistent so estimating is slightly more accurate and predictable but yeah the majority don't give out predicted atars
