hi all, so recently (like a month or so) i've fell off really bad im not sure why but i dont have any motivation to wake up or do any work during the day, by the time i do want to do work its like 1am and by the next morning i get so tired and the cycle continues. I try telling myself that i kinda have to worl hard but its not working and the stress is just increasing, i literally have no energy at all. its such a shame since ive worked really hard but im not sure what happened, i was really looking forward to year 12, this sucks :(

what does one do?

it's completely okay to step back from work for a month, you're not a machine. This month which you feel as though you've slacked off is really just a break you really needed for working hard for nearly a whole year so far.

my best advice is to stop trivialising breaks and instead willingly accept them. Be glad that you've rested, and now that you want to get back into routine, just ease into it slowly; 1 hour of work tomorrow, 2 the next day until you slowly get back into the rhythm. Contrary to popular thought you really don't need to "grind" to do well.

Remember that HSC is still rather far away.

oh, and maybe take a break from BoS. This site breeds a lot of the cherry on tops which is not the most accurate reflection of the common student.

A little bit of crack ain't hurt nobody lmao. Jkjk. Uhh, the best advice I can give is I'm doing less than I previously was but at least I'm doing a little of something each day. Whether it be chem, phys, maths q's I'm doing a little of each, everyday. Don't ask about English. That subject is dead to me.

It seems your burnt out, and I've been there. The worst thing you can do is cram and cram and just kill yourself (metaphorically) by studying endlessly. @B1andB2 put it pretty good. I just stop myself from burning out through 1 rule:

- As soon as you feel bored, go take a break and play on ps4/switch/xbox etc;
Its been extremely helpful just to have downtime where you're not doing maths, physics, english and all that. Just being zoned out and not in the "HSC grind" mindset has allowed me to recover from times where I've felt completely lost and demotivated.

If you've hit bottom, just know the only way you can go is up so don't feel like its too late. You can only get wins from now on so even studying for ten minutes a day is an improvement. Don't worry about getting those 90s and 100s as of now, just try to rebuild yourself - school isn't everything and it shouldn't be so just focus on your own mental health and sanity.

I didn't mean to say that it was a sprint. I meant that consistent effort throughout a good portion of the year is enough to do well. Not a grind where the year 11 to year 12 summer holiday is your only holiday (biggest myth ever) and where you can't afford to slack off, but also not a sprint where you get better overnight.

The best thing to do is figure out what exactly you're avoiding. Doing a math topic? Reading an english text? Whatever it is narrow it down.

Then take the biggest step you're willing to take at the moment. It could even be something as small as simply opening your math textbook or reading an exercise. When you've finally achieved that try to do 1% more every day.

TL:DR Start small and increase study in small increments to gain momentum.
