What this is trying to say essentially is that words explain ideas, emotions, etc, and they always will. However, whatever these words convey, it doesn't always mean they're telling the truth.

For example, take the usage of rhetorical devices, used to persuade an audience (where you 'manipulate' words in order to compel the audience to see your point of view and agree with it). These devices help get the point across, but that doesn't necessarily mean whatever the idea/point of view being sent across is correct or truthful.

does this relate with the irony that surrounds Richard's use of words (esp his duality) ?
