Fixed copies of Shore 2022 Ext 1 (Q1-12 retyped in Latex to get rid of annotations) and Knox 2022 Ext 1

Expect these + all the selective papers (optimized) for 2unit/Ext 1/Ext 2 on thsc soon (they are uploaded just not indexed yet)

@tywebb I'll add a list of other files that I've optimized and made smaller so you can update your copies.

2022 maths papers are now up.

Even if you've already downloaded the lot, please use this log file to download some improved quality copies that are smaller file size.

Thanks for fixing up the Shore paper. Your version looks much cleaner.

Is there a Hunters Hill Ext. 2 for 2022? It is listed at https://thsconline.github.io/s/yr12/Maths/trialpapers_extension2.html but when I try to download it it says 404 Not Found. Also, do you want to put up the Standard 2 papers for 2022 onto the github? There are 8 here: https://www.mediafire.com/file/ozecvpvm8n6yyzp/8-standard-2-trials-2022.zip/file if you want them.

Also in the Shore 2022 Ext 1 LaTeX version Q11c it seems you put the y component for the second vector as m but in the original version it is -1. In the solution it is still -1, not m.

So your version

Screen Shot 2022-09-23 at 12.59.41 pm.png

should be

Screen Shot 2022-09-23 at 12.59.27 pm.png

I also found an error in your LaTaX solution to Sydney Boys Advanced 2022 paper Q11. The original handwritten solution is x=-4 but you put x=4. It should be x=-4.

Also for Q17, in the solution the question was changed to xtanx but it should still be xtan2x.

Now for the Sydney Boys Ext. 1 2022 LaTeX version Q12a you have

Screen Shot 2022-09-23 at 2.12.17 pm.png
But the handwritten version is

Screen Shot 2022-09-23 at 2.12.59 pm.png
Now in 12eii we see the LaTeX version

Screen Shot 2022-09-23 at 2.20.59 pm.png
and handwritten:
Screen Shot 2022-09-23 at 2.21.22 pm.png

and also

Screen Shot 2022-09-23 at 2.22.38 pm.png
which should be corrected to
Screen Shot 2022-09-23 at 2.23.06 pm.png

In 13ci

Screen Shot 2022-09-23 at 2.30.13 pm.png
should be
Screen Shot 2022-09-23 at 2.30.40 pm.png

There may be other errors in the LaTeX versions but I think they are the main ones.

Thanks @tywebb . I've corrected both SBHS papers and the Shore paper (and have reuploaded it).

Sorry to bother you again and thanks for the corrections.

But I think you need to look at SBHS Ext 1 2022 again.

You now have for 13ci

Screen Shot 2022-09-23 at 3.53.48 pm.png

But it should be

Screen Shot 2022-09-23 at 2.30.40 pm.png

There is a 2θ at the end, not θ.

And -2sin2kθ should be -sin2kθ ........ no 2 in front.

So in fact they were 3 corrections, not just 1.

Yeah thanks for the pickup I had to correct the line before it as well. It's been fixed now.

The plot thickens.

I can see why you think you may have had to correct the line before ........ but alas you didn't!

The problem was actually in the line before that.

So here is what you have now:

Screen Shot 2022-09-23 at 4.41.33 pm.png
line 3 is correct

This is what you had before:

Screen Shot 2022-09-23 at 4.40.00 pm.png
line 2 is correct

In both cases line 1 is incorrect. cos(2(k+1)θ) should be cos((2k+1)θ) as in the original:

Screen Shot 2022-09-23 at 4.39.44 pm.png

By the way in the sigma notation i-1 should be i=1.

I've only got a partial version of the James Ruse. I have attached it. I didn't include it in the resources section because there is a part missing. It may be useful however but it has no solutions.
Thanks!!!!!

Most of the commercial trials won't have online copies on their websites and you are not supposed to put them on BOS due to copyright. However one of them, the Western Mathematics are happy to put their older ones on their website. The 2022 ones are not there yet but will be soon. Nevertheless the 2018-2021 ones are there. Check it out at http://www.westmaths.com.au/other-hsc-year-11-resources . They have a dropbox link and it is probably best to link to the website rather than the dropbox link directly because when the 2022 do go up the dropbox link is likely to change.

Further to this they have a similar link for Year 10: http://www.westmaths.com.au/7-10-resources and it has resources from 2015-2019. They stopped making them to focus more on year 11-12.

On the issue of copyright they have said:

"We make our past papers (since the syllabus changes) available free of charge on our website. We would have no problem with them being added to your library, as long as they continue to have our identification on them and that this remains when they are copied or printed."

I should point out too that although one might say that now we are awash with plenty of trials for most of the maths courses and may not even need the commercial papers as well, there is nevertheless very little available for Standard 1. These Westmaths links now give 3 trials for Standard 1 and soon it will be 4 - which is a LOT better than what we had before which was basically 0 (apart from the past HSC exams and NESA Samples).

I never knew that west maths makes their trials freely available, that is very helpful. If only every commercial trial did the same…
