Can the school make rules for travelling to and from school (1 Viewer)

I ride a motorcycle to and from school and my year coordinator says that they don't know if its allowed by Sydney Catholic Schools and has to check with higher ups
Are they allowed to make rules for this kind of thing outside school grounds?

how tf do you have a motorcycle license?? I thought you needed a full car license first before you can get motorbike L's???

nahhh thats just crazy

we need to do a full 120 hours AND a test to get Ps for independent driving but all you need to drive solo on a bike is a digital test????? how is that possibly safe or make sense

In short, yes.

Private and catholic school require your parents to sign and agree to their own enrollment documents, these documents can include requirements inside or outside of school and are at the discretion of each school.

So, if the enrollment documents your parents signed includes a rule which precludes (or strictly prohibits) the riding of a motorbike to/from school, then the enrollment contract will specify terms for suspension/expulsion in the case where you choose not to follow that rule.

Consequently, it would be sensible to wait and get confirmation from your principal before riding your motorcycle to/from school.

Riding a push bike is harder than a motorbike

but... in terms of road rules and gaining confidence navigating traffic and interacting with other drivers, which is what you generally learn while on Ls with an experienced driver, you wouldn't be getting that if you're riding straight solo?

Yes that would probably be true if you never got your learner license class C but in my personal case I got my Provisional class C license when I was 17 so I already have all that knowledge
That’s why they have made it so you must be 16 years and 9 months as most people will already have their Learner class C license
I understand the issue and your point however that someone with no experience at all can just their their learner rider license and go on the roads alone straight away but really common sense and natural selection will deal with that… you won’t get far on a bike on public roads if you don’t take it slow and learn in quiet streets first which is what you need to do anyway when learning the basic controls etc. I go to school in the CBD so yes there are lots of stupid drivers and I have been in a few situations where if I didn’t react quick enough I probably would have got seriously injured or killed but at the end of the day it is your own risk you’re making
