tricolonic cumulative listing of "gossip, recall enemies, ghost of lovers" emphasises the sharing of stories and narratives as an everyday occurrence in the human experience

I suppose the whole text is about how individuals come together and sharing stories in general

you could analyse the anaphora of 'We make men at it, we make women.'
there's also a metaphor 'This table has been a house in the rain, an umbrella in the sun.'

i think the kitchen table is symbolic of the continuity of life and human connections

motif of kitchen table represents how an inherent part of the human experience is individuals connecting via coming together and telling stories

Harjo uses the motif of a kitchen table to communicate the importance of family in the human experience. The use of various juxtapositions such as "we sing with joy, with sorrow" and "a place to hide... a place to celebrate" asserts that the human experience, through both its good and its bad, is inherently tied to family and nurturing love. This is futhered through the use of emotive metaphor, with Harjo likening the end of life to a final "sweet bite" at the kitchen table.

idk i haven't done short answers for a while but i think that should be 3 marks

Chan utilises repetition of the phrase "I wish you could" to portray the perspective of the narrator, who yearns for emotional connection with an unknown other character. The motif of perspective is furthered through the statement "that doesn't mean you can't try and see through [my eyes]", suggesting the narrator feels betrayed by the apparent lack of emotional connection, and her subsequent desire for it. Additionally, the use of the past tense, such as "see the world as you once did" and "love everyone as you once loved" asserts that the narrator yearns for a nostalgic previous emotional connection, demonstrating their emotional desire.

This is probably a little bit too long, but def should be 3/3
Also pretty annoying bc of how long the text is for only 3 marks, but at least it makes it easier to pick out techniques
