Keeping up with workload (1 Viewer)

For a while, I've been kinda struggling to keep up with my workload even though I don't even do tutoring at all. It's mainly because I have really low energy levels and just going through school makes really tired and pretty much everyday after school I don't have nearly enough energy or motivation to do homework. Obviously, this makes my work pile up and it makes me stressed and anxious about all my work, which makes me even less inclined to do it, even if I DO have energy.

This tiredness has been going on for about 2 and a half years (though it was much worse in the first year) but I haven't gotten a diagnosis or anything (i do suspect it is/was autistic burnout) bc ALL of the 7 doctors I have gone to over the years have been dismissive of my symptoms and chalked it up to not getting enough sleep even though I have been averaging 6-8 hours of sleep (I went to 4/5 doctors in the first year and I was at a point where I missed a term of school, had bouts of being so exhausted and fatigued I couldn't move or speak properly and couldn't walk more than 5 minutes without getting tired... so i don't have any hopes of getting a diagnosis ever or being believed). Even though I'm much less tired now, I'm still really struggling with completing all my homework on time because school is just so draining for me. I usually miss one day a week because everything is so tiring. My school does know about my tiredness but I'm still being expected to do the same work as everyone else and I just don't know what to do. A part of me thinks I just need to work harder and push through it but I literally don't know how to, and also last year when I was on top of all my work and decided to go back to math tutoring, I burned out really easily and my tiredness got a lot worse, so this might just be my capacity.

My main problem is keeping up with homework as I've been doing average-above average in all of my assessments but I worry that I'll eventually do much worse if I can't keep up with my workload in y11.

Any advice is really appreciated and thank you in advance :cry::cry:

sounds like depression lowkey or maybe lack of vitamins in some regard
take this with a LOT of salt as i am not a a doctor nor am willing to become one
I agree, if you do have some other disorder (which sounds likely), that could also give you a higher chance of depression.

I rlly don't think it's depression bc I don't feel hopeless or sad or display any of the other symptoms, I just get tired rlly easily😭 I've also had so many blood tests over the years and there's apparently nothing wrong with me physically beyond a vitamin d deficiency which I've been told is not nearly severe enough to cause the tiredness I experience

hello i reccomend you push for an adhd diagnosis because you can get prescribed medication that makes you more energetic and alert. there are guides on reddit to help you do this, as doctors usually do not take teens seriously. i have been medicated and it has actually helped quite a bit with mood levels, focus, motivation, and energy. there are ofc a lot of other factors but if you genuienly think you have adhd or similar it would not hurt to try it out.

Is talking to DPs or counselors an option?
Uhhhh I mean I could, but I'm not entirely sure how helpful it could be for me. I used to go to psychologist because we thought my anxiety might have been contributing to the tiredness but it didn't rlly help

Yeah I have been thinking about that but my main issue is that my parents don't really understand adhd and autism and that type of stuff and they feel pretty iffy about meds in general so I highly doubt they would support me getting meds for adhd, especially bc they definitely don't think I have it. Even if they did believe me, they're also the type of people to think that having adhd is just being lazy/a problem with diet, sleep, screentime, etc.

You could try convince them that it will benefit you in the long run with academics and all.

I highly recommend, they can do a lot to help. Probably go to your counselor first then DP, or don't, depends how big your balls are.

i was also very fatigued from school even in year 12, id literally crash in my bed at like 7pm sometimes and basically have 0 energy after the day. i basically just had to use my time as efficiently as possible, that meant that weekends and holidays i really had to push myself coz that was the times that i had high energy, and then also making sure that i used my class time really well, eg id just do past papers in my math classes and really push myself to engage with the class content in other subjects.

to keep up with homework consider going ahead if it’s possible, for subjects like math i just got assigned textbook work so id always be ahead a couple of chapters so i could take my time with it more, ik its not always possible to know what you’ll be assigned but where possible use your time to get ahead on it. for subjects i also passively learned and i found that helped a good amount, basically id just be at least watching youtube videos relevant to schoolwork even if i was super tired, so id at least soak in some information.

fatigue is really normal especially around hsc age btw, it could be from other stuff but dont panic too much and the best way to get around it is just to figure out when you have energy and maximise that time. if you’re tired afterschool then consider doing work before school and changing your sleep schedule to get up earlier to accommodate for that, or maybe spend a huge amount of time studying on the weekends, just experiment and find what works for you. there are also probably gonna be times where you’ll have to push yourself to do afternoon work when there are assessments and all, but everyone has to do that, again just don’t let yourself slip behind and you’ll probably find it much more manageable
