Hey,
i know this has been asked before but im still confused. Scom runs a class for my school but i feel like they were too slow. Ngo seems to skip over some stuff and im not in a spec class. Kinda dont want to leave Ngo but its probably some sort of sentimental attachment. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If you're looking for more options I would suggest give Matt Cash a go. He worked/was a business partner with Jonathan (Owner of SCOM) if I've been told correctly, but they split and Matt went on to open his own centre. MCM is pretty cheap and you can have a trial lesson too and see how the lessons suit you. Matt teaches the 4U classes himself and ngl he's better than any tutoring centre I've been to (Du, NGO and Matrix). They run school classes too so you could check if they run classes for your school. Mostly all the Girra and Baulko kids go there. But if you want to choose between SCOM or NGO I would say SCOM because they would be more resourceful and NGO is just meh unless you are in specialist.

SCOM are in external administration / liquidation, so I would think twice about giving SCOM any money as I've been told that they should not even be operating anymore.

I would suggest you try Matt Cash Mathematics

whoa liquidation?? a lot of people from my school went there last year and it seemed to be doing well, that's insane

whats liquidation
liquidation is when a company can't pay its bills / debts to its creditors when they are due (insolvent) and it's usually indicative of the company being in financial difficulty. so as a result the company goes into a process where they appoint some external figures (voluntary administration) to help deal with the mess. usually this means they'll just sell the business or just close down, and then they'll redistribute all the assets and stuff to the creditors and owners before it formally dissolves
learned that in comm1140 this term 💀

Very poor management, misappropriation of funds and selfishness.

You can actually look at all the external administration documents via an ASIC search and payment of a fee.

can you fill me in on the lore mr fizzycyst?
Long story short.
- Matt left SCOM
- Jono couldn’t afford to buy him out, so Matt remained shareholder.
- Jono didn’t like the fact that Matt was still able to get Money from SCOM as he was still 50% shareholder.
- Jono (with help from his solicitors) devised a plan to run SCOM into the ground on purpose and then start new business where he was 100% owner.
- Jono tells me December 14th that he was declaring bankruptcy the following week and asked if I would take over the lease on the premises (unbeknownst to me, Jono was already behind in rental payments, even though I was paying him $17k/month for the place), I declined.
- Jono and other members of SCOM staff had known about his plan for 6 months.
- So, with all real estates closed over Christmas / New Years, Jono had effectively backed me into a corner where he figured I would have no choice but to take over the lease
- I left December 15th and had the most stressful Christmas / New Years ever trying to find a temporary location, which I finally found Mid-Jan.
- We had to cancel our holiday courses and push back our opening date for Term 1, 2024 due to his shenanigans.
- All in all, Jono and his selfishness has cost me over $100k. He has not responded to me and notices of demand from my solicitors.
All in all, lesson learnt about trusting people in business.
