hi everyone, so currently im doing actuarial studies and advanced mathematics (honours) at unsw.
i am thinking of changing to actuarial studies and commerce (i would likely double major in finance and accounting). Note that i haven't really taken many math courses yet, mostly ones for my actuarial degree
pros of adv math:
- its cheaper (50k vs 65k for degree before indexation)
- i find it more interesting (or at least i thought so in hs)
- im not behind and haven't wasted any subjects (only like 1 or 2 tho)
pros of commerce:
- since im an actuary student, i can get exemptions from a number of courses when i double major in finance and accounting
- quicker: only 4 years vs 5 year degree (probs will be 4.5 years cause im behind a bit if i switch)
- finance and accounting majors align a bit more with my career plans
- its wayy easier and wayyyyyyy less time consuming due to wayyyyy less lectures
what are your thoughts based on this? any advice is appreciated thanks
