Hey guys,

I have a quick question. For the UNSW gateway program, do they actually check your year 11 marks? Or is it more so your personal statement. Right now, I want to apply for double law at UNSW but my year 11 marks aren’t looking too great. However, my friend says they don’t necessarily check your marks, but your personal statement more. Could anyone provide clarification? Thank you

Can you change them? Don't stress over things you can't change - it's meaningless
do you have any experience with the UNSW gateway program? Like do you need a standout report (All A's) or can an average one (2-3 A's 3-4 B"s) + good personal statement be good enough?

you may as well just give it a shot regardless of your year 11 marks, youll never know unless you try. What are your grades like anyway? maybe thatll give a clearer indication to someone who has experience with the program

I honestly expected so much more from legal and adv maths but prelims screwed me over so badly.

damn fr? my careers advisor said he has seen literal idiots get an offer. But law is a highly competitive course so that's why I'm a bit worried

dont put time into worrying, write a great personal statement and apply - then focus on lifting the grades you arent happy with to maximise ur atar in yr 12

yeah, I get that but I want to maximise all my opportunities, including this one. My grades aren't finalised yet so that's why I'm wondering if my grades right now are substantial or do I need more

what more do you mean? theres nothing you can do to boost your grade after your final assessment task in yr11, youre starting the hsc course next term, in what way are the grades still being finalised?

Being fr, its unlikely you'll get into law at UNSW, its hella competitive, but that doesn't mean you don't try. Nothing is impossible.

What part of the conditional offers, like how hard it is to get, the atar adjustment?
1. how hard is it to get? everyone says it's "handed out like candy"
2. how much will the ATAR requirement be reduced? I know it varies depending on the course, so in this case, it will be double law
3. when can you start applying for it?

1. Law at UNSW, especially though gateway is pretty difficult to get into. Most people I knew who had a mix of As and Bs did not get into it, other courses with less demanding atars are yes handed out like candy.
2. For Law it will be reduced to an atar of 85, and also if you make it through gateway you do not need to do your LAT exams.
3. Since your HSC is next year, just keep a look on https://www.uac.edu.au/current-appl...fers/early-offer-schemes-for-year-12-students at around March in 2025, as this is when UAC will most likely update with relevant information about the early entry across most universities

Yes but Law is a very comeptpeive course, as there are individuals who do their LAT exams and are more deserving to reach the course rather than someone who would enter with a 85 atar, completing no prequisites. Law is prestigious at UNSW, so they only accept talented people from gateway schools.
