mod 7 was so fun i actually had the motivation to study
NO FOR REAL!! Uauuuuauagh i love organic…MY BELOVED!!

also if any of you guys still struggle with remembering polyatomic ions, listen to the polyatomic ions song thats in the beat of hotline bling for a few hours straight.

youre welcome. Genuinely i listened to it 30 times in year 11, and the knowledge has never left me.

I dont know if you guys needed this but i just wanted to let you know that this beauty of a video exists

mnemonic tricks my beloved

there's usually big titration and nmr/mass spec/infrared questions so would probably expect the same this yr?
my teacher said its likely mod 6 will be the focus this year which is horrendous bc its probably my worst module
SAME i am so terrible at mod 6 its a bit embarassing, i have been practicing it the most but bloody hell. I forget absolutely everything all the time.

TERRIFYING.

@radioheadfan42 just to check u do chem without maths right. if so what is ur experience with that (genuinely asking) in terms of calc Qs are they more annoying or does it not feel too bad
No not bad at all! I mean, it depends. I wont lie, doing maths does help, i did it in year 11, but as long as you know basic algebra, youre sweet!

only complicated things that come in is occasional quadratic formulas. Dont question them and how they work too much, just memorise it and plug it into your calculations.

im not sure EXACTLY how quadratics work, i only did standard maths and we never learnt about it…but in this case you dont really need to!

but also, while i dont do maths…i actually like the subject, a lot! I just dont do it for the hsc, so its a lot more tolerable :)

its also pretty easy to get the hang of the maths in chemistry. Genuinely i found i have learnt a lot more about algebra in chemistry than i have doing algebra in maths. They give you a formula but they dont explain much of it, so its really good to see it actually WORK in front of you. I love to see it :)

I don't think any question in HSC chemistry requires quad formula, if your using it you've probably done something wrong lol - I think most of the time where quad formula could arise are in Ksp questions, and you assume somethings negligible so that it doesn't matter.

no, no quad formulas are in the hsc bc the syllabus is designed to be a standard level of maths,so basically this means every question u can assume small x

I feel like they might put a mod 8 “why shld they use this chemical layout/location” question but other than that I have no other predictions aside from it’s gonna be piss shit hard
