Hey guys, recently going into yr 12 I’ve been feeling really anxious and stressed pretty much all the time which is really impacting my study and tbh i really don’t know how to deal with it.

I just am constantly anxious. I think it could be the fact that my marks start counting and to be completely honest i don’t really enjoy any of my subjects at the moment and really which i chose others😢😢

Anyone got tips on how to destress? I’ve been trying but idk, I also think it has come a bit from not switching to chemistry but idek at this point.

I also don’t know whether i should do science extension, projects seem interesting to me but at the same time i don’t know if i can be bothered to write a whole report.

Maybe try to find hobbies or other things to do outside of study as a distraction and break. But also remember that even though ur marks are important just try ur best and remember that everything happens for a reason and will work out for the best of u in the end

what they said, plus i don’t think you should add on a pretty stressful subject if you are already stressed as is.

Definitely establish a life outside of schooling. Invest in your hobbies and interests, do stuff you've always wanted to do, try new things. Even if it's as small as listening to a new song or trying a new Lolly. Theres so much more to life than school, I know it's easy to just say that but soon you will see. Trust your future self, you'll 100% be fine in the end things will always end up working out. Good luck with year 12!

it helps me to put some of this into perspective. we're a whole bunch of 16/17/18 year olds trying to figure so so so so many things out. most of us haven't even lived a quarter of our lives yet! there's so much good out there waiting to be discovered in life. find some things that make you happy outside of school and stick with them, try new things, just live life! yes the HSC matters now but it doesn't define your life. I know people who did amazing in the HSC whose life hasn't turned out great, and people who left school midway through year 10 who are now CEOs of huge companies. don't lull yourself into thinking that the hsc will define your life - because it ultimately won't whether you want it to or not <3

good luck with everything, you've got this, and feel free to pm me if you're ever super stressed

Yeah, I will try, tbh the competitive nature of the Hsc just makes me really stressed.

I see what you're saying, it's definitely easier said than done. Can I ask what you're so worried about specifically? Is it not getting your goal atar?

Yeah it’s mainly the fear of not getting a good atar and feeling i have chose the wrong subjects for me to do well 😢 I just feel i should have done a bit of an easier combination. But oh well i gotta get over it.

You don't have to get over it already. You just started year 12, why don't you actually acknowledge how you feel? Don't push down how you feel, that'll make things worse. I can tell you care a lot and that's not a bad thing at all. But trust me things will definitely work out, you should trust the person you want to become. There's so much time til your hsc, so much time for things to work out
