hey guys i was watching the finance edrollo and it said something about PayPal allowing businesses to hold multiple currencies so they can make payments without conversion fees (since they are technically not converting the currency), would this be considered hedging since it is still minimising risks in exchange rate fluctuations?

Kinda cooked for that lol, but marketing could also be the essay since it was marketing and operations last year and hr and finance for report. So wouldn't it be a bit too obvious if they just swap the two around. So I think it will be:

Report = Operations and HR
Essay = Finance or Marketing (Choice)

That would be the ideal case. For me atleast
so ur studying finance and marketing for the essays, what do you reckon specifcally the essays r gonna be one processes, strategies or influences

can someone pls explain exchange rates to me and how they influence import and export price. cs I was looking at it and if aud compared to USD goes from $1=$1 to USD$1 = AUD$0.5 would that be appreciation or depreciation? u could buy more USD with the aud but then when I did a questions w this logic it was wrong lol. someone help
for your example, you should ensure both exchange rates are in the same format (eg AUD/USD or USD/AUD). If we convert it to USD/AUD (so we are comparing against one AUD) for both, that is $1.00USD/AUD to $0.5USD/AUD, which is a depreciation since instead of paying one AUD for one USD, you need to pay twice as much for the same amount of US dollars (eg $2AUD for one USD)

ok for exchange rates the currency can either appreciate or depreciate
if the currency appreciates it means it is more VALUABLE eg $0.65USD/AUD to $0.70USD/AUD, which means businesses can purchase more US dollars with the SAME amount of Australian dollars, which benefits australian businesses as they can pay less AUD

whereas for depreciation its the opposite - the AUD has become more weaker so to purchase the same amount of US dollars they need to spend MORE australian dollars, so US businesses are benefitted

alright so if apples cost like 3 dollars per import from the US to australia and the conversion is normall 1:1, when it goes from 1USD = 0.5AUD, the instead of paying 3 dollars to get apples someone in australia has to pay 6 dollars to import apples, basically as our currency goes down imports become more expensive, also a business will receive less for exports

Guys I have just received intel that this years essay will have an operations option discussing performance objectives (quality, speed dependability, flexibility, cost, customisation). The other option is HR.

you really dont need that many if you expand on each one, talk about how a 5% growth in profit can be re-invested or smthn and draw out implications
I might add tho not to make them to dramatic like u cant say that "due to apples recent implementation of employee benefits program, they have increased employee retention by 35%"

if u use big case studies u cant use massive statistics
