hi so im doing the hsc in 2024 and my predicted atar is not so good (60-65), im expecting to only go to wsu for bachelor of med sci human nutrition (early entry course), however i would like to transfer to uts as soon as possible (preferably after one year) for bachelor of food science and technology. i read on the uts website and says that for recent school leavers, they only consider atar in order for course transfer and i would be considered a recent school leaver until like early 2027. at that point i would be in my second year already and it wouldnt really be worth it to start over again, so could i get advice on how to do it now?

hey, you wouldn't be considered a recent school leaver once you start tertiary study(eg. at wsu). so once you start at wsu next year, you would be considered a non-current school leaver and can compete on uni results or atar(whichever is higher/more competitive) :)

btw let me know if that makes sense cause my explanation might seems confusing

yeah im confused since according to the uni websites id only be classified as non recent as of 2027 not 2025 when uni starts.

when you search "uts glossary", there's a page with the definitions. here's an excerpt:
"Current school leaver* – applicants who completed Year 12 in the year prior to intake (e.g. if you are applying to start at UTS in 2026, a current school leaver is anyone completing Year 12 in 2025)

Recent school leaver* – applicants who completed Year 12 in the two years prior to intake AND have done no further study since within higher education (e.g. current school leavers and anyone who took a gap year)." hope it helps, def call uts cause if you have any confusions but I know you'll definitely be able to transfer after a year using ur uni results
