Guys if you don't mind me asking now that you are done. How hard did you find science extension? Did any of you do SciX? and also how much time out of your scheduele did it take?
Ok so look. Im gonna be pretty upfront, but if you dont like research / science too much, and you hate the idea of a project and dedicating time to it and just wanna pick it cause its an extension course DO NOT PICK THIS SUBJECT. This is literally a 2 unit course in disguise in terms of the work. However, I will say that it really depends on ur time management. If can come up with an idea early, it will be super helpful. Try to pick a project ur passionate about, and the rest will follow. Trust me, no matter how much u like science, the content WILL BE BORING ( at least some of it, I really like stats so I found that part pretty nice). I think personally this subject will be as good as you make it to be. If you are a curious science student, you will enjoy this. Just dont do this course for the sake of it, because you will regret it. I hope you pick this course up, its super interesting, and im sure if you do youll be fine.

Sorry to bug you again, but I was also wondering the relative hardness to band 6 the subject.

Tbh the content doesn't really look the hardest and the report is internally markes so I don't get how alot more people don't band 6 it?
Also is the scaling any good?

If you were to pick your subjects again would you still do it?
nah dont worry bug me all u want I like yapping

the report being marked internally in combination with VERY small cohort sizes (we had 4 total to begin with, 3 at the end, next yrs cohort is 5 people) results in it scaling like dogshit. The content in itself is relatively self explanatory, but the questions are once again CRITICAL THINKING based and require genuine skill to be built, I sincerely doubt that you could do e4 level well even if u memorised every single answer structure, piece of content, marking criteria, etc.

However, you should not be doing this subject if you sincerely do care about scaling. it wont scale well, hell i sincerely doubt it's even counting towards my atar, but thats not why I picked it. I love science and have always wanted to know more about it, I loved the course for its content, the skills it taught and the chance to do my own thing. I would still re-pick it everytime because I had a great time cause my teacher was great and I liked my project a lot even though it did jack shit for my atar. If you really enjoy science and want the chance to do your own research, go for it, but it is a lot of dedicated time and effort. Don't pick it if you just want to look good for uni application/whatever or want a headstart on uni level science.

aaa good luck with phys, I still have 3 exams left 💀 bio, chem, food tech haha but at least my exams were decently spaced out unlike others I knew who have all their exams crammed into 1/1.5 weeks

Tbh it sounds really interesting for me. Im kinda in a pickle tho. I reallty want to do science ext but already have 12 units with 4u of math so i really don't want to increase my workload. IM also 3 classes behind which isnt much as I could easily catch up, its just the fact i would have 13 units

personally, wouldn't do it with 4u maths extension is a BIG workload increase and for most of my subjects and I already didn't need to do much additional study throughout the year bc I got the content conceptually the first time with 95% of it + decent memory
