I don’t get it. There was only 99 band 6s in 2023 out of the tens of thousands of students who do it, How is it that hard? do they mark it harshly? Does a 90 raw scale down? Im so confused. And why does maths standard not this bad. At this rate I’m more likely to get a band 6 in Chemistry over English standard. Am I screwed?
it's not like standard has a fundamentally different test than advanced, they're still writing subjects testing writing and analytic capacity. i think its pretty safe to assume someone getting a b6 in advanced isn't going to have a hard time getting a b6 in standard.
isn't the mark scaling only in relation to atar? a band 6 in standard scales worse than a b6 in advanced, but its not like they take a raw 92 in the exam and drag you down to an 84 as far as i know.
if someone was confidently able to get a band 6, they wouldn't be taking standard english. its the same reason why math ext 1 and 2 generally have high e4 rates if i recall correctly, because you take those subjects if you are confident in them or enjoy them.
