There is an interesting article in SMH on 7 December paper today : we-need-to-reassess-one-in-seven-hsc-students-claim-exam-help

One in five students from private schools now apply for HSC disability provisions. Schools in Sydney’s most affluent suburbs, in the north, the inner city and the east, submit the highest number of claims.
Some of Sydney’s wealthiest private schools lodge the most claims, despite federal data showing public schools have the highest proportion of pupils with the greatest disability needs.

What are your thoughts ?

And lots more provisional students would be more catered in a private institution. My school has a dedicated building for students who need extra help due to disability... so its only natural we submit more.

bruh what is ur definition of 'rich'. Like knox and kings alone is 80% scholarship students...
Well those are the 20% using disability provitions. They should fucking get rid of it to ensure equity. Why does someone get extra time when I didn't get to finish the test my self?

Disability provisions that give you more time to do a test should be removed.

i would say there is probably a not insignificant amount of people making use of disability provisions they probably aren't entitled to or don't actually need.

on the other hand, i would say that the kid who can't write the exam themselves or who needs to throw up every 30 minutes from medication side effects probably deserves some extra time as compared to the embittered kid who thinks nobody deserves extra time or consideration because they didn't know the content on the exam well enough.

either way its a legislative requirement and they're subject to anti discrimination legislation, so its not being abolished.
