You can make a pre prepared response flexible by preparing more than you need.
Also try and expand vocabulary
Shorts I struggled for a while but best advice is that you're showing the marker you understand the text. 3-4 hours in both years after school every day
During exam season sometimes I'd be working super late if I felt I was behind - 6+ hours (but rarely)
When not in exam season I would still aim for 3-4 hours but if I got 2 hours of work done it was good enough
