Term 1 (2) is about to kick off, and my 3 person drama class has recently become a one-man show due to some unforeseen circumstances. We did our first HSC assessment as a group but now it's just me. Am I completely screwed?? Does anyone have any tips/advice? What should I do?

Please send your condolences I'm so scared 🙏

im not really sure how drama works icl, maybe @Cute-Duckie can help. but idk if your school is allowing you to do the class on your own i don't see how its a problem to continue. you should be fine if you have teachers to support you through this. as for your first assessment - yes it was a group task but you were part of the group. i am sure they can make considerations and support you through this.

but from my knowledge, being the only one in a hsc course is really beneficial because typically your internal mark doesn't matter much at all. because you are the only 1 form your school doing it there is no such thing as moderation for you bc your internal rank is always 1 and whatever mark you get in internals doesnt matter bc your external is the only one that counts.

I'd be surprised if your school decides to keep the subject alive tbh. There's 2 things u can do.
1. Drop the subject or change to something else
2. Go through the whole course solo and keep on asking your teacher for feedback. From what ik, drama isn't a difficult subject and my friends that took it all got Band 6's (there was only one class and i think all but 2 or 3 ppl didnt get a b6) ~ my friends are theatre kids tho.
- You can think of it as either a free study period or 1 on 1 drama tutoring a the teacher can devote more time to just u.

thats more detrimental to their hsc than just keeping drama i reckon. everyone else has already done the entire prelim and term 1 year 12 content for their subject and this poor kid would have missed all of that content and needs to perform well within that kind of a cohort - unless they pick up two y12 extension subjects - but thats a different kind of stress entirely

also they can't drop it entirely they are on 10 units

ye thats true. OP ur in quite a pickle so I'd go with the second option.- But depending on the subject u switch to, it may not be that difficult. e.g. I started doing 2U SOR and dropped to 1U SOR around the same time as now and got 47/50. (some factors that may have influenced this: I was doing well in 2U, js hated the subject so wanted less of it 💀-and they're both very similar)~ But its possible to have a comeback/catch up

How does this even work with the GP? I thought you had to have a minimum of 2 ppl per group? Maybe they will get year 11 drama students to sub in for your GP, I know this was an option for us bc we had people frequently away and not showing up to the class.

also, what are you doing for your IP? If you're doing a monologue maybe reconsider because that is a lot of pressure w 2 performances when ur the only one and its ur HSC.

but if they are doing drama distance ed (as their signature suggests) im assuming the remote school can get kids from diff schools together somehow to collaborate? either way thats for their teacher to figure out right?

ohhh!! I didn't see the distance ed in the signature. That makes sense and could be what happens.

Whatever happens, your school will work it out and advise you on the best solution. I wouldn't panic until hearing from them what your options are.
