One practice essay a week is not much at all, but it will help you a lot. 10 practice essays in a termGuys i need some genuine advice- I have motivation to study for every single subject... EXCEPT FOR ENGLISH GAH and i need to work hard for English cause i need good marks to stay in the class i'm in (and to get a good rank)! but i just don't like the subject so studying for it is so harddddddd and i need to just find a way to power through procrastination and 'lock in'. Any advice?![]()
what topics should the practice essays be about? One practice essay a week is not much at all, but it will help you a lot. 10 practice essays in a term! 2 a week as you get closer to exams, and 2 during the holidays. Good luck

Honestly? Anything. It's just about building your general skills. Make sure you ask your English teacher to mark them too. They'll be really happy if you put in the effort of writing an essay a week, even if it's timed, it's a lot more than most people do.what topics should the practice essays be about?
My English teacher literally said that if we do any practice questions at home that she won’t mark them because she doesn’t believe that we used a timer properly or that we used ChatGPT which is disappointingHonestly? Look at prelim and other year 11 questions, I think HAST ones could work too, not sure...
report her to the principal or head teacher bc this is absolutely unacceptableMy English teacher literally said that if we do any practice questions at home that she won’t mark them because she doesn’t believe that we used a timer properly or that we used ChatGPT which is disappointing![]()
Huh! That's a horrid teacher. Ask some other teacher to mark it for you, or post it here. There are tons of teachers/tutors that'd be willing, I'm sure.My English teacher literally said that if we do any practice questions at home that she won’t mark them because she doesn’t believe that we used a timer properly or that we used ChatGPT which is disappointing![]()
I'm sure u can hand in practice questions because if u are willing to hand in extra responses when ur teacher didn't tell u to then that means that u actually want feedback. And if u actually wanted feedback u obviously wouldn't use ChatGPT because that would defeat the whole purpose of handing it in for feedback as it isn't ur own workMy English teacher literally said that if we do any practice questions at home that she won’t mark them because she doesn’t believe that we used a timer properly or that we used ChatGPT which is disappointing![]()
Idk- honestly she is really intimidating and scary- (which she admitted to btw) so i think i might just go to a diff teacher for feedback.I'm sure u can hand in practice questions because if u are willing to hand in extra responses when ur teacher didn't tell u to then that means that u actually want feedback. HELPPP I wish- but i am terrified of confronting others so i'm just going to have to suffer through thisreport her to the principal or head teacher bc this is absolutely unacceptable
IKR - That's a pretty good idea actually- thank youuuHuh! That's a horrid teacher. Ask some other teacher to mark it for you, or post it here. There are tons of teachers/tutors that'd be willing, I'm sure.
Maybe wait for others in the class to hand in stuff for feedback or to confront her and if it doesn’t work then maybe u will have to go to a diff teacherIdk- honestly she is really intimidating and scary- (which she admitted to btw) so i think i might just go to a diff teacher for feedback.
Maybe get a group of people from ur class to confront the head teacher or ur teacher. If I were u I would get a bunch of people to complain to her and maybe parents too. Also maybe what she said was just a misunderstanding and she meant that when she assigns the whole class to do practice questions she doesn’t want u to do it at home but if u want to hand in extra responses from home u canHELPPP I wish- but i am terrified of confronting others so i'm just going to have to suffer through this![]()
Urgh.really intimidating and scary- (which she admitted to btw)
That is quite the plan you've cooked up Study2success- i may have to give it a try later in the year when we are all settled in properly. Honestly if i try to give her something and she denies i'm prolly going to email the head of english cause we are just chill like that i guess (i've done charity stuff with him) but the relationship between him and my teacher is quite... scandalous in simple terms- so idk how that is going to go- If things go badly or she doesn't accept i always have parent-teacher interviews where hopefully we can talk about it-Maybe get a group of people from ur class to confront the head teacher or ur teacher. its pretty normal even in my school teachers dont mark anything for us since its unfair to other studentsMy English teacher literally said that if we do any practice questions at home that she won’t mark them because she doesn’t believe that we used a timer properly or that we used ChatGPT which is disappointing![]()
Unbelievable! If the student is willing to do extra work, then they should trust their teacher be willing to mark it. It's not "unfair" - every student has the option to do extra work, and if not, then they should be free to consult their teacher.its pretty normal even in my school teachers dont mark anything for us since its unfair to other students
