I know this sounds stupidly ironic like watching someone drown while dying of thirst, but I think I’m struggling from too much free time.
After the first full week back at school I’m feeling really purposeless. Having such little subjects, I usually only have 1 period days, so I can leave school at 10am. And having no extracurriculars and barely seeing my friends everyday makes life feel really mundane. I know I should be locking in now more than ever otherwise I’ll fail, but I can’t find the motivation to do so (maybe I’m just really weak). staying at school I know would definitely be just a distraction, but tbh it’s currently not any more productive when I leave. I’ve thought about maybe going to the gym or something but I’m also worried I’ll start slacking off on that as well (ik right I’m really lazy). Does anyone have any advice?

I would say somedays even if you can leave early, stay a bit later to socialise with your mates, otherwise school sorta becomes pointless. Also, definitely start hitting the gym or doing anything you like in your free time. U also seem pretty smart so don't worry if your not getting heaps of hours in, just worry that you need to get like 2-3 h a day of super deep work and youll fine.

bro C2, not many people in our hsc year only have 6 units worth of work left so obviously most people, esp on BOS, are going to lock in more than you.

if you're afforded the luxury to be able to go home that early dedicate an hour or so per day towards something that makes you happy. as for not being able to lock in thats a diff issue but its def concerning you have like 0 extracurriculars.

If its motivation that ur looking for, look into the course you're aiming for or any other degrees that pique your interest. That's what helped keep me going- the mindset of 'This is what I want. This is what I'll aim for. This is what I'll get."

Should I pick up extracurriculars like weekend sports or something or would that be too distracting?

im not saying you need to pick anything up, but i would consider like engaging in something you enjoy as a way to have a healthy school-life balance (could still be weekend sports but you have to think abt whether that makes you happy or can be a burden or nah).

often a lot of being "unmotivated and purposelessness" can be burnout. burnout often stems from like not coping with your life and routine very well and mostly from pushing yourself too hard in some aspect of your life (happens to almost every hsc student at some point prob). so having smth fun to do during the day can be really valuable in terms of like being able to bounce back after a stressful or exhausting day or period in your life.

regardless of who the person is you need to have some amount of excercise and like healthy coping skills like being social or if you are more of an introvert it could look like spending time on hobbies. it doesnt have to take up your full day but at least like 1 hour aside per day is not a bad idea for you since you have so much leftover time.

yes. weekend sports in particular. Studying is all about endurance. If your not being active or if your not fit, you'll get tired easily which can affect your performance and work quality. It doesn't even have to be sports. Can be jogging, bike riding etc.

Do the Cristiano Ronaldo ab routine or Sung Jin Woo workout

i had 2 period days once a week. i personally think its best to go home after u finish up and study for as many hours you usually study after school. then u have the rest of the day off to do something
