I have no idea how to use AM-GM (1 Viewer)

hi guys this might be weird but could somebody please explain how to use AM-GM in questions, maybe with some examples? idk why but this particular part of the content we've learnt so far just does not absorb into my brain, I can prove the inequality itself, but the moment I have to use it (I can generally identify it) I'm cooked

ok im like the least qualified person to talk about this but:
generally it just involves recognising things to sub into the AM-GM
e.g. proving the AM-GM for 4 numbers:

sub 2x = a + b, 2y = c + d
