English Units and ATAR (1 Viewer)

Hey, I'm thinking about my units for next year and I'm a bit confused about English Extension, and I guess its point. I really like the class, its actually one of my favourite classes. But if only 2 units of english can contribute to ATAR why would I take it or Extension 2 next year, instead of focusing on improving my advanced grade with the time I save. I'm also wondering why this is a limitation in the first place? Theres no limit on Math units you can count so why is there for English.

if u only do 2 units then yes, if u do 3u or 4u its all of them (unless in the case that ur doing over 10 units of subjects and eng ext 1/2 turns out to be the worst marks overall).

what if i do very bad in mx2 compared to advanced in a way that the advanced mark would actually be worth more cause i did get a band 6 in it

I think adv can't count if u do mx2

unfortunately you will never know bc you just don't take the adv HSC (unless ur an accel kid I guess)...however I hear that if you get like a band 5 in MXX though they don't tell you you technically get an honorary band 6 in adv because you would've gotten one anyways?

yeah it assumes u would have gotten a band 6 in math advanced if u do extension 2, which is clearly false cause most of the people doing extension 2 didn't even get a band 6 in math advanced in my school. Be realistic, do you think the people getting an E2 would have gotten a band 6 in advanced? of course not

I swear you have to achieve above a certain threshold before getting the honorary b6 to prevent the situation ur saying of ppl getting E2s in MXX but still getting it

how do you know the ppl in your school didn't get band 6 in math adv? just curious bc like in my school the MXX kids don't even take the adv exams so technically we have no idea how well we'd perform (apart from comparing in math ext 1)

Interesting that majority of the course saddles the E4 threshold
