I got 22.5% in prelim exams. The average was 52%.

Is it stupid to think I could improve (I barely studied for the prelims). Apparently band 4 adv = band 6 standard

Should I drop to standard?

A band 4 in advanced is defintely not a band 6 in standard.

Half the standard paper is identical to the advanced paper, so u might not even get a band 5 in standard

Do you have any clue how they compare? Like 100% standard would be equal to what adv?
I mean there not really comparable cause their different courses but generally people do much better in std and adv. ik people who were failing adv who ended up getting a band 6 in std. take everything that cool cat says lightly cause he is incredibly math biased

Ofc you can improve if you put in the effort!!!! Was your attempt at your prelim a serious one (like did you at least try doing questions even if you couldn't do them) or did you just not attempt questions bc you didn't study at all? If your attempt wasn't serious, I wouldn't use your exam marks as a determining factor in whether you should drop or not. If you are seriously attempting your exams and are still struggling, maybe take a look at y11+12 standard past papers and see if it matches your skillset before decidng to drop?

Do you struggle with the content in class? Because if you are not finding the content in class difficult and believe you could do much better if you actually studied/practiced with past papers, adv shouldn't be too bad! Tho if you do end up dropping, keep in mind if you also don't end up putting that much effort you wont end up with a band 6.
