say like the probability of something is 0.7 and u need to look for the Z score on the normal distribution table do u take 0.52 or 0.53? or like it doesnt matter cos 0.52 is closer to 0.7 but is 0.6985 compared to 0.53 (0.7019)

i used guessed it based on ratios to get z scores of like 0.525 but i saw one papers solutions that was like NO THIS IS NOT COOL U GOTTA PICK THIS ONE so im really not sure

yeah idk the paper did 0.53 when i did 0.52 and it messes up your mean and everything after calculations even tho its so small

I assume you pick the one that's closer so the fact they chose the other one is surprising - maybe there's continuity correction somewhere that they did and you didn't? (in which case HSC would take both answers)

i assume the answers made a mistake cuz for like a good 30 seconds i thought 0.7019 was closer so maybe they did as well?

Usually, the hsc asks for the nearest 10/100..., where this range incorporates both the valid z-score values to avoid this ambiguity. If not, just choose the closest numerically.
