I did all these questions without the use of calculations lol
How did you do q7 without sketching? I feel like I wouldn’t trust myself with sketches for questions like q7 tbh
I drew a triangle with each side 3,5,7 then cosine ruled it

Taking advantage of multiple choice is definitely worth it, but I don’t get the rhombus one, since they are all parallelograms? I drew one, and noticed that the diagonals are perpendicular but unequal (the i and the k respectively) = rhombus

edit: q9 not q7

Actually for question 16 what I did was prove the shortest distance was perpendicular FIRST by drawing a right triangle and saying that the legs are always shorter than the hypotenuse (you can prove it using Pythagoras’ theorem), thus perpendicular lines represent the smallest distance.
I then used that idea in part a and saved a whole lot of time.

A a rectangle is a parallelogram, which is like a square. Odd one out is a fucking rhombus (which was correct)
C is a rhombus is a parallelogram, which is like a square. Odd out out is a rectangle (which was not correct :0)

Every other option is a parallelogram. Odd out out is a parallelogram (which was not correct :0)

chatgpt isn't reliable for checking because it isn't as robust as other older and more trustworthy technologies such as calculator, wolframalpha, spreadsheets, etc. so i don't think they would do that

ai got off to a bad start being very bad at maths. it's been getting better but not to the point that it could be relied upon for checking.

Don’t teachers mark it even though they don’t set the question?

If I get into Macquarie then I might go there so I can work out the best route to get there from my place.

what do you think happens at the marking centre when a marker can't interpret this?
They don’t have marking centres anymore. They scan our answer booklets and email them to individual markers. My understanding is that each booklet is marked by 2 independent markers.

Other methods that are more reliable than AI... asking another marker or a colleague / teacher... looking methods up in suitable reference sources... asking one of the English teachers... asking a random person on the street... holding a seance to ask Isaac Newton... sacrificing a chicken and studying its entrails...

For anyone who hasn't seen it, here is an X1 question from NSBHS 2025 Trial and its AI answer on the school's set of solutions...

It illustrates an AI providing a confidently-expressed and fundamentally-flawed (and objectively unreasonable) answer to a pretty easy X1-level question.
