Did anyone noticed that the solution of this question's wrong? Accoriding to the DE the derivative cannot be negative,i.e. the function is increasing, while the solution is not mononic

Also, if you draw a vector field, the solution would be like a piecewise function, which flats out when . Even if the markers can't see this, the step where integrate is incorrect, as you haven't check , and this condition is not necessary for the original differential equation

You would have to restrict the domain to between pi/2 and -pi/2 inclusive, where it is defined which they left out

edit: wait the domain would be different bc of the horizontal translation, but you get the idea right (-pi/2 < x + pi/6 < pi/2)

Does anyone know what the raw mark for band 6 cutoff was for this yr. Like scaled to 90

aye bru how do u know
NSW mathematics server said + I am certain I got 50/70 which became aligned to an 86 (yes it's very harsh alignment when u go to the e3 range as the raw mark vs aligned mark graph is VERY steep at that range). I was fully convinced I would get an E4 cause the general consensus was this exam was slightly harder than 2024, therefore I expected the cutoff to be lower (49). Just unlucky to have a strong cohort again, most likely attributed to more ppl doing extension 2.

It's impossible (if not very rare) to score an odd exam mark in the E3 range cause of the garbage format of exam (70 marks + 4 bands only).
Mathematics Advanced exams provide much more leniency in the band 5 range (1 raw mark = 1 aligned mark), whereas 1 raw mark lost in the E3 range corresponds to 2 whopping exam marks lost. This ultimately stopped me (and one other) from getting the E4 I really wanted (I would have, had I gotten an exam mark of 88 due to my higher assessment mark). In the end I got a 89 HSC mark. Quite sad... I only needed to answer 1 more easy mcq question correctly to secure an E4.

Well I'm glad I got to get a band 6 last year in maths advanced

On the topic of bands 6 or e4, does anyone know when the offical raw mark database gets updated by chance??
Thanks!

Urm, I mean I think it goes the for other tests/subjects if you do go to selective (Common understanding from my experience is that trials are harder than hsc), personally I do agree and don't to an extent. Although I don't go to a private/selective school myself, doing other papers from James, NSB and etc are definitely harder and includes weird conceptual questions (which I suck at) that 99.95% chance that the HSC won't include. But with that being said, there are definitely easier trials even if they do come from selective schools.
But overall I would say that trials or test (from your selective school) are most likely harder (again this depends alot):)

Generally it should be easier. Question 11 & 12 and some of 13 are sometimes just Christmas presents honestly [like you would have most definitely seen most of them before or variations] they aren’t meant to be hard pretty much cause it’s a test for the whole state.

14 is usually hard because the questions are just unique but like compared to other unique questions made by top schools it is easier. The distinction being a really top school could have a question where after you look at the answer you’re still confused, the hsc is basically just like you didn’t think that way when you saw the question but the solution is easy to understand. Like I wouldn’t say this years paper or any have been very “hard” per se. People might complain about 22’s stats [but doesn’t help when you don’t study for it] so realistically it’s not that bad esp for top schools like you guys.

Sorta makes all of X1 js a game of silly mistakes atp.

so this one

i did not go to nesa presentation today but apparently there was a heated debate with hsc exam committee who were reluctant to admit this is the answer. subsequently it had independently been verified as correct.

do hsc exam committee even know what they are doing?
