hiya, i just started year 11 and im a bit confused about ranking
i know that your rank is fairly important but im particularly curious about when it comes into play. do they start to matter in year 11? where would i find it?

Usually ur teacher will tell you ur rank or it will be on ur report. For rankings I'll give u an example. Let's say

the highest was a 98, followed by 2 people getting a 97 and the next person getting a 95. Then the ranks will be

1st-98
2nd-97
4th-95

See the thing is if people tie, even if u get the 3rd highest mark, say 95 in this example ur 4th because there's 3 people ranked above you

But honestly ur ranks don't really matter too much in year 11 and it's just to see where u are

since yr11 doesn't matter (unless u want early entry or smth), ranks only matter in yr12 and essentially determine half of your HSC mark.

it doesnt matter in yr 11 only in yr 12 as it plays a part in determining your final hsc mark
so dont worry about it for now, but you'll usually find out when you get your report
