@f7eeting the answer to your question (for acids and bases in exams will it be mostly theory/calculations or a mix?) is:

" Mix but theres potential for some hard calculations. Theres also a decent amount of theory."
thank youuu

This guy says math adv is avg and the bare minimum that should be taught and that math ext 1 and 2 are easy.
i agree tbh, but i know for many math isnt their strong suit so 🤷‍♀️
also that sounds like it'll be a fun test!

Yeah..... but for physics. Adv math was the assumed knowledge so people who are not so strong at math should know by then(With physics you surely have to know math is inevitable. The only thing we used from adv math were quadratic equations which I'm pretty sure standard have done.
standard does quadratic equations? i didnt know that lol 😅 all i ever see people from standard doing is finance or networks now that im thinking about it

damnn what else do you guys do?

i tried helping a friend with their standard hw today and i couldnt do it 😂 financial math is filled with so many funny words i dont understand
was it like shares and brokerage and stuff. I was also very confused at first and everyone else seemed to get it. But after doing the homework I'm kinda getting it now

We also do simultaneous equations, trig (like sine rule, cosine rule, area of triangle, bearing stuff with word equations, etc), stuff like energy consumption, etc.

Idk. I really hope so. But my cohort is quite competitive and tons of peopl from adv also dropped to std so idk
the person whos ranked 1st is my friend who never did adv 😅 which is kinda crazy
but i think you can still get top 2 for sure

can someone quickly explain to me proof in simple terms cos i got a question about proving an expression is irrational, and i can't solve it algebraically because it keeps assuming all the terms are rational, nvm dw guys i bootlegged it

you're already learning proofs by contradiction? 😅

my teacher mentioned it in class that it would have to be used for one of the questions and he was like, 'yeah just try figure it out,' but quite obviously i have not a clue of what proof is so i tried algebra but that didn't work so i just tried a bunch of random stuff in hope of figuring it out and i ended up miraculously getting the answer Screenshot 2026-02-12 at 9.58.58 pm.png

what even is that, should I be knowing it????
nahh its an ext 2 thing. i mean its pretty fun to learn, if you’re curious try learning the proof that sqrt 2 is irrational, its a classic
