What kind of "holiday homework" is this anyway. Assigning a whole module during the holidays instead of teaching it in class??? Someone has seriously messed up here in their planning or they're lazy
Hi!
My name is Samuel, I'm a 2023 HSC graduate, offering 1 on 1 tutoring for Software Design and Development (SDD), the new syllabus equivalent Software Engineering, and most levels of Mathematics (Advanced, Extension 1, Extension 2, Yr7-10 upon request).

Your working out is fairly poor, but I can follow your solution quite fine.
Let's go through the marking criteria;
Calculates the correct z-value. While you did not notate what the z-value is, it is there; but some markers would argue you didn't actually say what the z-value is. Personally I...
i know you've heard this 1000 times but very seriously, the summer holidays is the 100% best time to recharge and reset for the HSC year. don't overwork yourself; I don't think I did more than 3 hrs on any day in the summer holidays and probably averaged around 1-2hrs.
focus on high yield...
don't believe everything you read... FIC's historically are under strict confidentiality until hsc results day, so noone should really know if the calls have been made or not. just wait and see??
I suspect they are using an atar calculator.

I know this is old but it still applies. "Schools do not receive ATAR information"
I absolutely agree with every single part of this.
Particularly in that exams are an incomplete snapshot of a person's ability -- even their ability in that field of study.
Imo, this depends - what is the purpose of the question? Is it to test mathematical intuition and ability for deduction? In which case I think it is a good use. Or, is it to test direct knowledge of the course content, and the ability to form evidence-based conclusions with rational logic? If so...
Just to let you know.. a 96 vs a 92 in extension 1 maths is a rather minimal difference to your ATAR.
The atar contribution (effectively, what your atar would be if extension 1 maths was your only subject), in 2021, was 99.9 for 96, and 99.3 for 92.
Effectively the upshot of this is that...
That second last question 14ci is super well designed. From an outsiders perspective looks like a fair paper. Q11 and 12 are fairly easy, Q13 is more complex to interpret but moderate difficulty, (I swear I have seen something incredibly similar to b before), Q14 is hard (esp cii).
Maybe...
ooh interesting, i did for the second one (not doing it in railroad so here it is in ebnf)
Expression = (<Number> | <Variable>) {<Operator> (<Number> | <Variable>)}
both of ours still fits all the criteria for expression so i'm pretty sure both would be marked right?
Multi way is fine (binary selection would also be fine assuming they are using the normal marking criteria for pseudocode - it'd be very non-standard for them to mark it requiring multiway).
