    Arts VS Arts (Adv) (Honours)?

I'm doing the adv hons course at the moment and I suppose the best part of this degree is getting to skip first year subjects - you get a lot more freedom to go into depth in areas you really enjoy early. Like you've already hinted at though, the course doesn't allow for all that much...

    1st in state English Extension 2, 2009 - Offering English Tutoring/Feedback

Hi all, I am currently a student at Sydney University completing a BA (Adv)(Hons) in English Literature and I am currently looking to offer English tuition services to next year's crop of HSC students. Like the title says I was ranked first in the state for Ext 2 English in 2009. I also...

    Reviewing practice poetry?

It's not really worth just working out minor edits and "improving" at the beginning of the course like this. EE2 isn't about polishing your poetry because frankly going into yr12 you haven't ever had a chance to explore your own poetic style. Instead of asking for small tips you should be...

I don't think i have it in me to be a poet!

i'm sorry alex.leon but I have to disagree with you on the internet poetry forums. Just my taste I guess, but I fricken hate them.. so many bad examples imo. Also it's worth noting for everyone just starting that there's a few scams out there being circulated through poetry websites. There...

I don't think i have it in me to be a poet!

Being stuck with the actual writing at this stage isn't too much to worry about imo. It's still early in year 12 and you can write considerably less than the word limit in poetry and get away with it as long as the work remains substantial. I'd be more concerned about getting what you want...

    Highest Extension English Two Results

:o thanks heaps, glad you enjoyed it. It must have been ridiculous differentiating between the top works though. Congratulations on your own result both for EE2 and overall.

    New to this >.<

Cummings is a really good suggestion imo. I like your recognition of the musicality of more contemporary poetry. I think Ezra Pound wrote quite a bit on the difference between the "metronomical" and "musical" in poetry if you wanted to look further into that.. Also you can't go wrong with...

    Belonging poems?

I used Allen Ginsberg's "Howl" for belonging/not belonging It's pretty long but has some quite quotable lines to it.
