Re: Very experienced HSC tutor at Burwood, 98 for 3u, 96 for 4u This guy is a genius ! I can not begin to emphasise how great this guy is ! Completing my HSC in 2010, I had never been tutored and so was always worried about who was going to tutor me, and whether he’d do a good job or not...

    Circle Geometry Question

That is a terrible drawing :D And he's talking about the external angles of a cyclic quadrilateral. He is right :)

ANOTHER Parametric Equations of Parabola question -- need help

Yes well. It comes from experience. When you're doing 4u parametrics you learn a lot. My best advice is to factorise whenever possible. Make every line of working out neater and neater. Try to eliminate ugly fractions immediately. Looking at : (2a)p^4 + (3a)p²+a, you can see how I put the...

ANOTHER Parametric Equations of Parabola question -- need help

Look at mine ^^^^ Tell me which part of my working out you don't understand :) You have to factorise that numerator.

ANOTHER Parametric Equations of Parabola question -- need help

Hahahah! Parametrics always brings up a lot of algebra. You should see 4u conics (which is parametrics with hyperbolas etc etc), the algebra goes on and on :D So, by giving Q (x0,y0) we are working towards generating two equations which will consist of Q ONLY. 1)PS in perpendicular to QS...

ANOTHER Parametric Equations of Parabola question -- need help

By letting Q be (x0,y0) we have to set ourself a goal. We have TWO UNKNOWNS. If we somehow generate TWO equations both constituting of these TWO UNKNOWNS, they can be easily found through the process of simultaneous equations. The algebra isn't nice. Factorising involved. But deterministic has...

Parametric equations of Parabola - Need help with question

Yes. Foot ---> Human Foot ---> Located at the bottom OF: 1) Draw the tangent at P 2) Draw a line FROM S so that it is PERPENDICULAR TO the tangent at P 3) The Point of intersection is M. I've always disliked the "foot" terminology.

    Cambridge Textbook. Development? Extension?

Development yes. Do well in development and you're looking at a great understanding of the particular section. Extension..NO. Lol. That's specified for people who really enjoy mathematics, require a challenge. For the 4unit people.

Parametric equations of Parabola - Need help with question

Here's another solution. I'm just going to make sure you understand what you're doing. I'm a big fan of understanding maths as it will help you A LOT >_>. Another thing to remember is that you should pick the FASTEST method in solving problems. determinisitc has found a very fast and elegant way...
