    You would have had circumstantial or another type of depression, yes. As far as I know, she has another type of harder to cure types of depression that are out there.

    If you read the rest of the thread, you'd see many comments like the one you posted and you'd also see many posts from her saying that the mindset you expressed clearly hasn't helped, only made her confused etc.

    But like you said, tl;dr.

    Ps. No offence, but you don't seem to have much experience with depression. Usually sufferers and past sufferers have more of an idea about the disease.

    Dude. If you only knew what depression is like, you'd realise that those happy up-beat overly optimistic comments are just annoying as all hell.

    I've been helping her understand her depression since she started the thread which is better than those comments.

    Your type of help just makes you miss the old feelings of happiness.
