    Well, I'd say that there is always more to learn - even if you feel you are proficient in Australian politics, you won't be familiar with every aspect of it. Picking a subject that you know well and like can be great, if you make sure that you are extending your knowledge, rather than just rehashing things you already know.

    I have to say that, in retrospect, I would have liked a little more variety in the subject areas that I chose. I suppose it's just a question of whether good marks or new ideas are more important to you. (Keeping in mind that it is possible to do well in arts courses that you aren't familiar with, given that they mostly revolve around essay writing skills which are reasonably transferable across government/sociology/philosophy etc).

    But I think that the article you posted aboutn him calming things was somewhat overstated. Tensions were still very high yesterday. You could cut the air with the emotion and the speaker was magnificent in recognising this etc

    And Tuckey really is an awful old coot. He interjects at eeeverything and you can feel the Coalition's embarrassment. He's an aging anarchist and wants to go out in a blaze of glory it seems

    Nope. Was at Qtime though. Have to say that Anthony Albanese seems to be the best speaker - in terms of confident, animated, colourful articulation. Gillard has better rhetoric but is less enjoyable/easy to follow.

    The Opp. were all tired and defeated, trying to score points on refugees. Ugly.

    I didnt get into the passage. It's not clear how it applies to the modern problem of people smuggling; theyre not slaves for one thing. But further than that, we're doing anything but turning them away. As I said, the government has been very sensitive about this so far and they win points from me.

    They werent big on sovereignty in biblical times. The notion of border protection is relatively new. But there's a correct process involved in gaining full access to a society's fruits. Right now, I agree with the more humane approach of the Rudd government, even if it does risk attracting more people smugglers
